What nobody tells you
Somewhere in your 40s the rules changed. Not because you changed your habits. Because your hormones did.

Why restriction makes it worse
When you consistently under-eat in your cortisol rises. Rising cortisol signals your body to store fat, particularly around the abdomen. It accelerates muscle loss, slows your metabolism, and drives your blood sugar instability that causes the food noise, the 3pm chaos, and the evening eating that undoes the restriction you spent all day maintaining.

It starts with eating enough. Specifically 25-30 grams of protein at every meal to protect muscle mass, stabilise blood sugar, and silence the food noise that has been running your afternoons.
It prioritises blood sugar stability over calorie restriction. It works with your hormones rather than against them. And it removes guilt entirely because guilt raises cortisol, and cortisol is not your friend right now.
Start with breakfast. Thirty grams of protein before 9am. Every day.
