Why bother with ‘Smart swaps’ at Halloween?

Because ‘just one’ mini bar rarely feels like one, (especially in my house!) and the sugar rollercoaster can crash your evening. If you’re navigating midlife shifts, small upgrades make a big difference: more protein and fibre, steadier energy, and treats that actually satisfy.

If you’re not sure where to start, nuts is a great place! There are the tiny powerhouses your snack bowl needs. Packet with health fat, fibre and protein, they’ll keep you feeling fuller for longer, reduce blood sugar spikes, and support your gut health. They’re also packed with micronutrients including magnesium, vitamin E and potassium which support muscle function, skin, and overall vitality. If you or guests have nut allergies, swap in seeds (pumpkin/sunflower) and keep nut items clearly labelled.

Try some of these this evening and your future self will thank you later!

  • Instead of a bowl of only sweets, do a 50/50 mix: fun-size chocolate plus mini packs of Forest Feast slow-roasted nuts. Think “pick ’n’ mix” but grown-up!
